Default How to run on the Dyno

I've heard using 2nd gear past 3300 rpms is the best way to get results. Is this true? If I had a custom chip made for my car, you think there'* any way to get a solid 3rd gear with the TC locked up for dyno testing (meaning not allowing any up or downshifts and keeping the TC locked up while in this "mode")

The TC won't lock up at WOT. But 2nd gear is the best gear to pull a dyno run in. Same holds true for a Gtech hp/tq run. You can pull all the way to 85mph+ in an SSEi in 2nd gear.

Run in second, accelerate slowly to about 3200-3300 (you might have to play with this) and then mash it. The car will not downshift and you will get an accurate reading.

Let me clarify this a little.

Start out in manual first. Accelrate to about 3200 then put the shifter in 2nd and the car should shift into second. Leave it in 2 then accelrate to about 3200 rpm and floor it. Hold it to the redline or the limter, your choice.

The 1:1 gear is usually best for dynoing. The differences are small, but for consistency most people use that gear.

Most people do not dyno 3rd because of limiter problems, 1st is to hard to get accurate data as most cars will shift into second automatically even if left in manual 1.
