Default Is this okay?

I was removing my Windshield fluid bottle to put in a smaller one and I had to remove the Air box and so while I was there, I decided to pry a little at the Throttle body screen to see how it may pop out.

I used a very small flathead screwdriver and was prying at the edge when a spring clip fell out. I didnt know one held in the screen. So needless to say I removed it.

Is it okay for the car to be driven like that? I know others have done it but I guess with mixed results?

I've noticed a bit rougher idle without it......

Others say it'* better that way, otheres say the powers better with is....

It'* all you're call....I figure in the end, I don't think it'* killed anything.

The reason I asked is exactly because of the rough idling. It sorta sounds like a harley idle if you know what I mean, then it smooths out, but then back to rough again, so I dunno. Im going to take it for a drive to get Windshield wiper fluid. lol

my car hasn't had the MAF screen since i had it...I noticed its absence when i took off my TB to clean it....i have a rough idle sometimes too. I'm thinking of buying one just to put it in and see how the car runs with it for once.

its not nearly as a big deal with supercharged cars. they will idle the same I noticed no difference in idle and my idles smooth as can be without it.

dont really feel in power increases though.

I've heard that you are not supposed to remove it because it messes with the IAC and the PCM changes your air/fuel ratio and causes the rough idle and a decrease in fuel mileage. It is controversial but not recommended non the less.

With mine out, the idle quality sucks. Without screen, I've got more low end, but top end suffers compared to with the screen. To 80mph, it'* a wash for my car.

It really is more ideal to remove it if you have an aftermarket intake with a smooth pipe. With a stock restrictive and turbulent air intake it needs the MAF screen IMO. I took mine out for chits and giggles a couple months back. Right away, idle was horrible. Drove fine, but idled like crap. I put it right back in. Once I get an aftermarket intake done it will idle smoothly without the screen.

So far so good. The idle isnt really that bad and my ride to Autozone for wiper fluid was good. Nothing noticeable as far as increase in power.

What got me thinking was the airbox. There are these two bubble things on them that turn and actually come off the snout. I was thinking of taking them off and epoxying the holes to see what happens, but then again I dont want to mess w/it.

I'll just wait until I get a CAI in 5 years.

Those bubbles, or tumors, would be resonators. There'* a total of 5 on this airbox. I can't wait until I can justify buying the filter for my CAI so my engine can breath better, and sound better.
