This is my LEFT Control Arm. It appears to me that the vucanized bushing is working away from the knuckle. It also appears that the bushing has tried rotate inside the knuckle rather than rotate on the pivot/holding bolt.

I am soliciting opinions as to whether these need replacing or not. HISTORY: 15K miles in Chicago, then 40K miles in Kentucky, not driven for weeks at a time, sway bar links practically rusted through, has 47K original miles.

if there is obvious damage u minus well do it while u already have it apart. if its damaged its just going to get worse.

I have decided after much consideration to go ahead and replace these with the Dorman 520-169 and 520-170. The more I look it definitely appears that the vucanized bushing has indeed turned inside of the knuckle...so taking advice from several members and replacing...so that will be new: rotors, brakes, bearing packs, monroe quick struts, control arms with ball joints, sway bar bushings and links, new bolts for bearings, new hub nuts, tie rod ends, cv driveshaft assemblies, calipers, tires, lifetime alignment, balance and rotation...and that'* just the frontend! Talk about a crash course in front wheel drive suspension repair!

Man that thing is going to ride and drive like a dream after this is done. Like brand new!

Unless I have that ONE bolt left over....and no hole to put it in....hahaha
