Intense has that tray to relocate your PCM. Where is the accepted practices place to put the PCM? I want full access to the front corner of the bay, away from the rad. Do ya just horizontal it above the Evap canister?

Also that tray doesn't appear to have a cover. The one in my SSEi is practically in a suitcase. It doesn't seem like a great idea to leave the PCM exposed to the rigors of PA weather.

To add to haro'* statement, if you encase the PCM tray, you'll run the risk of overheating it, and electronics do not like to run hot, and will quickly let you know.

In fact, for any and all circuit boards, the cooler the better.

uhhh.. i dont know about that TWM... think about the stock airbox.. it completely encloses the PCM

While this is true it is enclosed ini the Airbox (which allows for cooling as air runs through it). Enclosing it in some other box not ventilated will indeed be bad for the PCM.

The PCM is weatherproof as noted above and is often left exposed even stock in varoius vehicles. The PCM tray we offer is from another GM vehicle and the PCM sits out open in it. The Cobalt'* and ION'* all have their PCM exposed, stock. It is perfectly fine.

The tray is perfectly fine as is the box the PCM originally comes in. Where to put it is only held back by the length of the wiring. In my case..I found the wiring will reach to the radiator..basically you can put it anywhere on the left side of the car.

It'* for the '98 SSEI. My wife won't let me do anymore mods to her SSE ("Queenie") for now. She is that enamored by it.

The PCM is already in a double-lined plastic "suitcase". I think thermals aren't an issue unless it was going broadside near ie exhaust manis. I do travel a lot to clients on the turnpike and such, and PennDot is using new chemicals in winter. It just seemed that there was a lot more end-of-winter corrosion on the battery cables and other areas this year on my DD, the '95. Didn't think it would be a good idea to leave the PCM nekked to the elements.

Yes, but it'* in a location where it gets airflow. I put together computers all the time, and that is one of the main things to keep in mind while locating cards (circuit boards, by all rights and purposes).
