Another Racoon!
Got ANOTHER one of those pesky racoons with my crossbow. Just after I finished talking with Jim on YM a few minutes ago.
Death by crossbow. My digital cam is on loan, but I'll shoot a pic when I get it back tomorrow. Heart and lungs IN THE DARK with a flashlight, crossbow, and red-dot scope. My cats and dogs will sleep AND EAT better tonight  I could HEAR the blood dripping from 20 feet up in the tree. Major artery destruction, methinks. Thing never knew what hit it. The puddle on the bushes under the tree is phenomenal. Proof that I don't miss very often (grouse by .45 neck shot, 3.5" barrel at 30' ) : http://home.comcast.net/~bill.wren/grouse.jpg Beats the hell out of a Mustang kill any day. |
LOL...our raccons are so bold here, maybe a crossbow is in the cards....PS, don't piss Bill off....
|
Is it just me or does that racoon look alot like a Bird??? Maybe not....

Last fall, driving back from my parents, I hit a 'coon. Ripped off a leg, but the little sucker still managed to run a few hundred feet to a bridge overlooking a shallow stream. He hid behind one of the pillars.
Fearing rabies and wishing I had invested in tritium sights, I took a shot from about fifteen feet away. I thought at first I'd missed; the coon dissapeared. Then I heard some splashing. 9mm Gold Dot worked just fine. :2guns: |
Lick, I don't know if you call 'em that way over there, but we call the .45 Gold Dot the "flying ashtray". Those that know what it looks like from the business end will know what this means :D
I'll get a pic of the coon up soon. Jseabert came over this morning before school. Can't wait to hear what he thought of the puddle. I gotta get a pic and get that sucker out of the tree. It's gonna be stinking in a couple days. |
My friends and I hunt coons at night with spotlights and .22's. Fun stuff but highly illegal!!! Selling their furs gets the dough. 8)
|
Bill, did you hunt little bunnies in the woods with a fork as a child?
|
Fork? BAH! That's for SISSIES. I used my TEETH
|
There's someone on this forum who had their seats in their Bonne torn apart by a racoon.
If I ever saw a 'coon near my car I'd kill it like the rice on Fridays!! :uzi: |
