Angel eyes

Well, fo Christmas Santa brought me some brand new Angel Eyes along with some Sony X-plod 200 watt 5.25 speakers. I put the speakers in yesterday and installed the angel eyes. Due to me running out of time I wasnt able to do the wiring and stuff for the LED rings, I will attepmt to do some of that good little stuff tomarrow. The speaker went in easily (aside from me getting fiberglass on/in my finger) and sound marvelous. The new angel eyes are BRIGHT, I still have to do some adjusting with the height on them but seem to work great. I will try to get some pictures up tomarrow some time. But I have a few questions about the angel eyes, does anybody have a wiring diagram of how the set their's up? I am debating if I should just hook them up to my parking lights or if I should use a switch and wire them seperately(leaning this way). Let me know what you all think. Again, I will try to get some pictures up tomarrow depending on the weather.

thjats great! I have orderd mine and am planning on getting them the 30th. It would be great to see some of the wiring and installation pics. if you have/could take some. Can't wait to see the pics!

Celtic_bulldog 12-27-2004 08:52 PM

hey where can i get those??

BonneMeMN 12-27-2004 09:09 PM

I suggest using the supplied wiring for the angel eyes atleast. They're just 2 LEDs so feeding them ton's of juice is a bad idea.

Good luck though! Just remember if it's really cold you don't need those halo's for a while. ;)

Side note, I'm sure you know, those speakers aren't 200w. Feed them that, and they'll die a rattly death.

Yea, I won't fead them 200watts, thats the peak power output, i think its like 50 watts RMS. I was thinking about saving the halo's for spring along with a new exhaust. Still debating it though.

Where is a good spot to screw the ground wire too? I'm not neccessarily sure what one to hook it up to.

1993 SLE 12-29-2004 12:54 PM

any place that has a good metal contact

beckstyle 12-29-2004 03:23 PM

Alright, i found a good ground. How do I go about getting the wires with the switch through the firewall to the interior? I know how to do the wiring and all for the LED rings, it's a peice of cake. The only tricky thing would be getting the wire through the firewall.

1993 SLE 12-29-2004 03:53 PM

there is a grommet right behind the drivers side strut tower, its a bitch to get to but many have used that hole for routing wires including me

beckstyle 12-29-2004 04:12 PM

Where will the wires come out?

BonneMeMN 12-29-2004 07:34 PM

I ran my ground to one of the ground contacts for the body behind the battery.

I went thru the rubber tube in the door.

they will come out right behind the dash, if you remove the hush panel and follow the hood release cable from the dash to the firewall, that is where the grommet is, (that is the main puropse for that particular grommet, to get the hood release cable to the engine)

GAMEOVER 12-30-2004 12:54 PM

they should come with directions and supplied wireing

beckstyle 12-30-2004 02:18 PM

Well, I have the wiring for the halo's all hooked up with the relay, fuse, ground, and the other cable that hooks to the battery attachted. Now, The wire that they give me isn't long enough to get to the whole in the firewall from the spot where the attachtment is near the battery (where I have the fuse relay). Is it possible to get an extension for this? There is no way I would be able to get the wire to the whole in the firewall and then be able to get the wires through to an accessable spot for the switch. Are there any other wholes that I can use? Help needed!!!!

BonneMeMN 12-30-2004 04:42 PM

Just make an extension. Get a few male and female spade connector like the ones used in the system, and some wire.

beckstyle 12-30-2004 04:48 PM

Are there any other places in the firewall or anywhere else that i can feed the wire through to the cabin? The one by the strut tower is hard, and I'm having a hard time getting the wire through there. Any tips?

BonneMeMN 12-30-2004 04:50 PM

You'll need an extension regardless i think.

Yea, I know that I am going to have to get an extension. The problem that I know have is how to get it through the firewall, or any other ways to get it into the cabin. Are there any different ways?

What is the wattage of the Angle Eyes? If the wattage is 50 watts will the stock wiring carry the 50 watt load?

yes i believe that he hooked the lights up to the factory wiring he needs help with the rings

you could run it through where the wire harness comes through, you need to remove the glovebox to get to that

Do you have any pictures of where it comes through, and where to put it through. I took off the fuse cover yesterday and saw a bunch of wires going through the firewall there but didn't really feel llike tangling with any of them. If you could give me some tips as of how to get the wires through there I would appreciate it.

1993 SLE 12-31-2004 10:34 AM

let me look in the FSM how to get throught there

if i remember correctly there should be a connector between the engine wires and inside wires

you will have to remove the Maxifuse relay center cover to see the harness

beckstyle 12-31-2004 02:57 PM

I got the wire through the firewall, all I gotta do is get an extension. Is there any type of connectors that would match up directly with the one that is on the wire for the angel eyes. I'm a little reluctant to splice into those wires.

1993 SLE 12-31-2004 06:21 PM

just get a male or femal connector I cant remember which one it is and add it the the existing wiring

beckstyle 12-31-2004 06:54 PM

Where could I get one?

1993 SLE 12-31-2004 07:14 PM

go to wally world and there should be different types of connectors male and female that will work with the AA wiring

w00t 2000 posts :D :D :D

beckstyle 01-01-2005 09:41 AM

Would any of these work?

beckstyle 01-01-2005 09:52 AM

Or if anybody could give me a link to a website that has some, that would be just grand. Oh and wallyworld.com isn't an electrical site 1993 SLE. I found that out the hard way. :puke: :bluetwitch:

1993 SLE 01-01-2005 10:55 AM

here is what you need

http://www.sourceresearch.com/nichif...e/lgfedisc.jpg

or

http://www.sourceresearch.com/nichif...e/lgmadisk.jpg

and i never said wallyworld.com......... I meant go to wal-mart the store.... sorry im not sure i want to go to to the website by the emoticon displayed

beckstyle 01-01-2005 11:15 AM

Oh, I was wondering if there were any type of plastic clips that fit right into the one that is used for the angel eyes. I didn't want to have to splice into it, but I guess that is the only way to extend it. Sorry for not being clear enough. Thanks for the help guys.

beckstyle 01-01-2005 04:58 PM

Well, I got them all hooked up. I just need to fabricate a bracket to hook it up underneath the dash. I don't want to do any dremeling of the dash or center console. My camera just broke :( so I won't be able to get some pictures up for a little while. Thanks to all of you who helped out. Now to save up for my next mod, or perhaps keep saving up for a newer 96+ SLE, SSE, or SSEi.

1993 SLE 01-01-2005 04:59 PM

that will be a big next mod
