Default Bonne vs Mustang Gt

I have 3 friends that have mustang gts, 1 96, and 2 98'*, one has a underdrive pulley and 3.73'* for gears, and the other has some exhaust work, they all wanna throw down some money on a race, and im very tempted to go to the track against them, but i was curious if anyone on here has raced one and how you fared? Thanks Blake

You have more horse power, but more weight. The stangs would probably win.

Mustang is rated at more than 240 I thought, or I could be wrong...

If I were you, I wouldn't put money on a race against a GT...

Keep in mind that horsepower doesn't always determine who wins.

Keep in mind you are racing against a 2 door coupe in your 4 door boat. Bonnies are fast car'* but I would throw down money every day of the week on a GT Ponny...
Even a supercharged bonnie is going to strugle against a GT ponny. Know then you upgrade the pully on a SSEI and you put a gator belt on it, and you upgrade the intake then we got a race!!

Figure they have in the neighborhood of 250-270 hp.
You have 240 hp.

Lightly modded GT'* have in the neighborhood of 320 lb ft of torque (?)
Stock SSEi has 280 lb ft.

Mustang GT coupes typically weigh in at around 3300-3450 with driver.
The SSEi with driver weighs around 3850-3900 with driver.

GT with the 3.73'* will probably totally own you if the GT is driven right. The other will take you, but not quite as much.

Like was mentioned above, get a 3.4" or 3.5" pulley, a CAI, and some exhaust work done and you'll be giving the more than a run for their money.

BTW, if you want to go the track, let us know either way. We WILL NOT ridicule you if you lose, mostly we will just want to see how it turns out. Also would be interesting to see how your stock (I'm assuming you haven't done any engine mods) SSEi makes it'* way down the strip.

I wish I had been able to hit a track before I started modding mine, but I will be sure to let you all know how I do when I get back from the track on the 21st (1/8 track) and again on the 26th (1/4 track).

I dusted a coupe once but that doesnt compare much with the GT. The stangs might win... unless you get them to agree on a wet track
The mustang I raced skidded out

stock auto 4.6s run mid/low 15'*... manuals run high 14'*... dont bet on it, but i'd give you the benefit of the doubt against a 5spd because chances are that they wont be able to launch at the track if they are all n00bs... good luck, and keep us updated

With the short list of mods listed, the 98 MIGHT have 250.

I don't think you'd beat any of them.
