series one VS series two?
ok guys here the deal I am looking at Buick rivieras the 1995 has the S1 SC and the 96+ has the S2 SC what are the pros and cons of the two engines? what has more modabilty? and is there any sites i can find all this info out allready like a FAQ or some sort i searched but i am not to good with that Thanks guys

The Series II has more power to start and has more mods readily available. Most stuff you can find for Series I also, but takes more looking.

Both series have the same mods available, except for an intercooler.
NOTE:
94/95 SC/SLE'* have been known to be quicker on the 1/4 mile than the S2 SSEi'*. The reasons are complicated (where/how the power is delivered vs rpm'*) etc, but keep in mind the 94/95 L67'* are VERY close to the S2 in power peaks, but deliver the torque peak at a lower RPM.
In a nutshell:
S1 L67 92/93 is a stoplight racer. Torque peak is delivered at a VERY low RPM. Will beat a S2 off the line all day long, but the S2 will start running you down about the 1/8 mile.
S2 is a 1/4 mile king. Starts running the 92/93 down about the 1/8 on the quarter. Better freeway passing, and an improved top-end due to lighter internals.
S1 94/95 is between them.

In my humble opinion
After driving both a Series 2 and a 92 SSEi (my car, hehe), I have to say I prefer the latter. I like being kicked in the pants every time I start from a stop. My friends love to ride in my car to feel the boost; even my hippie friends that HATE cars admit that they love mine. Sure, it'* lacking some power up around the redline, but I really don't notice it. It'* not like it just dies. I say drive a 92-93, a 94-95 and a 96-03 and make up your mind for yourself. In fact, I need to drive a 94-95 myself, just so I know what I'm missing

No, we're talking about SC.
The 94/95 SC is in the middle of the 92/93 L67 and the S2 L67, as I described them above.
The L27 (S1 NA) will generally beat an L36 off the line in the same manner, though. Assuming identical gearing and in good running condition.

For ease of finding a scanner or scan gauge, Series 2 is OBDII and by far much more supported than the hybrid 95 year.
For buying mod parts, I've heard S1 parts are available, however tuning and sourcing parts is much easier and more have done it with Series2.
While many of us like the Sieries 1 cars... the Series 2 are the way to go in my opinion.
