air box

why do alot of peeps only modify the factory air box? when its alot easyer to just ditch it are you worried about the sensor? just zip tie it out of the way just as long as its hooked up it serving its perpous? but start justin on my ass if im wrong?

Some people only modify the stock airbox, simply to do economic constraints. Any CAI or cone intake can get expensive. People have come up with innovative ways to increase the amount of airflow into the engine.

Also in Ontario, if you are caught, any modified car without an airbox results in a $700 dollar fine. Rare, but if your car is all riced out, the cops will ask you to raise the hood.

Modding the airbox is a lot cheaper than a whole new intake (as in FREE!! woo-hoo!) especially for those of us with a tight budget.

As for the sensor, I'll leave that one to the people who understand it better

WHAT are you zip tying back? What sensor are you talking about?

Those of us who have had in the past (myself included) a modified airbox, and those that still have them may take offense to the tone of your post. Please try to find a better way of asking your questions.

I also suggest you read Techinfo. There's an article on airbox/intake mods.

the air temp sensor? the one that twist locks in to place

willwren 08-04-2003 01:19 AM

Why would you want to ziptie that out of the way? It'll read hot engine bay temps, and hurt performance and efficiency!
