Default Access codes for Auto Xray EZ Link scan tool?

I just picked up an Auto Xray EZ Link scan tool at a local swap meet. It came with the Chrysler, Ford, and GM cables and the manual. The unit was made in 1999 or later, and the manual talked about OBD I and OBD II testing, so it seemed like a useful tool for my 2 OBD I bonnies and maybe also for whatever future OBD II vehicle(*) I buy.

But I installed batteries and turned it on and tried to set it to GM or GM OBD II and it said the feature wasn't supported or something like that. It appears that this unit was set for Chrysler testing only, and from what I read in the manual, I need to call the manufacturer and pay them to tell me each special access number to enter so it will activate the functionality for the other types of vehicles. I had no idea that this would be the case.

Have any of you been through this before? Have any of you received access codes based on the seed numbers and serial number of your Auto Xray scan tool, or have any of you figured out how to calculate an access number based on the serial number and the seed number? If so, can you send me a private message?

The prior owner of this unit probably already paid to access the GM and Ford testing features, but unfortunately I don't have the option of contacting him.

I don't think I want to invest any more money than I've already paid for this tool, and I don't own a Chrysler product, so if there isn't a free way to get it to work with GM vehicles, I guess I'll put it up for sale.

The box says model XP240 and shows 2 different handheld units that look similar except for the buttons. The unit in the box is the one that has the Enter button in the middle of the cursor arrows and says 'EZ Link' below the display.

okay, there'* nothing on the internet.. just call up the company and see how much it'll be. Reverse engineering stuff is hard.. especially if you don't know the language the reader is in [and no i'm not talking about english ], and if it doesn't have a PC interface.. which some of them do, but I don't see your model there. Personally even I don't think I could do this one, and I reverse engineer software all the time.. Not that I am saying you arn't capable of doing this, but if you've never done this before, this is not the thing to start on. If you know the key for Chrysler, then you may be able to start from that if its human readable.. otherwise just pay for the code.

PS: software piracy is illegal, and I am not liable for anyone pirating, reverse engineering, and "cracking" software. The FBI won't come to your door saying "do you have any pirated software, and search your house, compuer, and electronics for pirated software.. but nonetheless its still illegal.
