Default 1993 SSEi

I'm considering buying one. Apparently it'* in good shape, no problems. BUT, it has over 300,000 k'* (186,000 or so miles) on it. How long do these things last on average? Is it still good to go for a few years? What sort of things should I be looking out for?

Maybe a tranny if it wasn't cared for. And get the fuel pressure checked. look for signs of water leaks from the door seals, like a wet carpet.

92-95 SSEi'* don't have a lot of serious common issues.

That should be good as long as you're not going anywhere far. If you are, I suggest you spend about $500 in replacement parts. This of course, my own opinion.

To review it for purchase...

check functionality of transmission, as well as fluid level, color, smell and possible flush records

check to see if the fuel filter has ever been replaced...

check brake functionality

and general obvious items.

if its been well maintained, and you plan to keep that up, i strongly suggest buying it. but do be advised, if it has the original transmission, it may need one in another 20k miles or less.

I own a '93 SSEi with 195,000 miles on it. It has been totaled, I rebuilt it, then drove it cross country, and I beat the crap out of it.

The car has NEVER let me down since I have owned it and I have a VERY VERY heavy right foot

How about getting more power out of it? These early SSEi'* only had something like 170hp right? Can power be had without sacrificing reliability and economy?

Its 225bhp, you're thinking of the natural aspirated version of the 3800. If its an SSEi you're after, its supercharged.

He'* not totally set on the price yet. It'* a buddy of mine. He wants 1700, but he may go lower, we will have to see. It is an SSEi, it is supercharged. I'll be having a look at it personally soon. As far as he knows it'* bone stock and says he hasn't had a single problem with it.
