Because its a Bonneville. No offense to Bonnevilles, but they're not exactly sports cars.

they weigh damn near 5 thousand pounds yes but the ssei'* are the ''sporty'' type i understand that they're supposed to be a commuter family car with good gas mileage due to the sc but they are also very quick comfy stylish good on gas and luxurious for what they are that'* like saying why do they put manuals in a geo metro thats not a sports car its a chevy knock off with toyota parts that gets 40 mpg its the equivelant to a ford festiva that also comes with a manual??Those aren't sports cars either why do they have manuals then

There'* an economy manual and a sport manual. Example: the Honda Fit, with a manual transmission. That has a manual because its a cheap car, not because its intended to be sporty.
Also, the gearing of the getrag 282 and 284 (the two most commonly used transverse transmissions in GM passenger cars of those years) don't have the proper gearing for the L67. Its just not a great combination.

Don't get me wrong, as an enthusiast, I would LOVE to see people swapping manuals into these cars, but for the general population, the demand for a manual in a Bonneville would be quite small.
