i agree........... i have seen and been in more bonnes than most on the board......that said there a few things that differ between the 92-95 and the 96-99, lets face it.....the interior only have very minor differences, and if if need be i can list all of them, but reastically to the untrained eye, they are very minimal
and this has turned into a options and comforts battle. The question was more focused around the drivetrain, not the creature comforts or options |
Remember that I am in a local bonneville club of 60 members. Even though i only had 2 93's I have drove a 88, 89, 92, 94, 95, 98, and a 2000. You all dont have to believe me at all but i am not one who forget how a car sound or feel. Sorry for adding my 2 caents to this whole thread.

I will say the series I has very noticeable lifter clatter at idle, i've never really heard a series II do this at the same level.

I don't have a hint of clatter at all, but I've only got 110k on her.

Neighbour's '87 LG3 is practically silent relative to mine (well, save for a leaky exhaust, lol) at about 110,000km. |
Yes, thats what i'm taking about. Lifter clatter. All Ser 1 i've heard have it. No Ser 2 i've heard have it. The Ser 2 prolly was redesighned to take care of the problem.
|
There is no major difference in the two drivetrains. Most Series 1 cars you've heard have more miles on them than the Series 2's. ;)
My car has ZERO lifter clatter. |
I'm at 150 and have no lifter clatter yet.
|
Then my old 93 is crap. Because it has bad clatter and the same mileage as my Ser 2. Actually I haven't heard as many Ser 1 S/c have lifter clatter as the NA. No Ser 2 i've heard has lifter clatter.
