Default 3800 Series II Reference Pictures

I cannot think of the number of times someone has said something about a particular part on this engine that I had no clue as to WHERE or WHAT it was. I am sure we have a number of members that have little or no knowledge of engines period.

I am one of them also. Well, as far as naming that part.

After I pulled this engine, I was amazed at the number of sensors this engine has. Nor can I name half of them.

So, I hope the admins and the powers that be, please come in here and edit this post to reflect the correct part identifications on the various photo'*. I will leave space between each photo for comments etc.

I also give permission to those that are putting a project together for the tech forum for use of these pictures and ones contained in my other transmission thread.

Also, please link these pics into other threads if needed. For example, someone is asking about removing the O2 sensor, but does not have any clue to what it is, or where it'* at. Use these pics for that purpose.

Also, please no comments about how dirty it is, the leaks or what have you. This is for reference only.

CRANK PULLY / HIDDEN SENSOR UPPER LEFT ??? Camshaft Sensor

TPS AND OTHER SENSORS Upper right is MAF, upper left is IAC

Don't know this one either EGR Valve The pipes bring exhaust gases from the rear manifold into the EGR valve and it then meters the amount that is allowed to pass into the lower intake manifold.

Ummm, I forgot this one.... Fuel pressure Regulator

PCV Valve is located under the cover.

LEFT SIDE OF OIL PAN AND 2 SENSOR. 1 IS OIL LEVEL AND OTHER???? Knock Sensor..

Don't know these ones either. The round shiney plug is a freeze plug, the sensor is a knock sensor.

OIL FILTER BRACKET AND SENSOR FOR??? That is actually the oil filter adapter (they used the same engine in many applications and changed the adapter depending on room in the body/frame) and the sensor is for oil pressure.

Please put up a picture of the crank sensor..this is located on the front right of the crank.

Thank You for posting these pics. Had a Service Engine Soon light related to the EGR valve but Chiltons diagram for where it was located on my engine was confusing. Thanks to your detailed pics I was able to find it and clean it up. A new gasket and the light is out.
