I got to thinking about blinkers. You know how aircrafts have flashing lihgts all over the place? And they kind of flash on and fade off. I was thinking about making the blinkers do something like that. I just don't really know how that would be done. I'd probably need 2 lights, a strobe and a normal blinker. The strobe would be the means of making it come on instantly with a flash and the regular light could fade out. Thats the easy part, the wiring and electronics would be hard. I'd have to fabricate some kind of module that gets its power directly from the battery that operated the 2 lights by the signal from the wires that go to the original turn signals. I'd also have to figure out some way to put load on those wires that go to the stock blinker so the car won't think the blinkers are out. And on top of that I would need 4 of these babies made. I say all this because I just don't think you could just pick up something like this at autozone. It would just be so cool to make an entrace to a parking lot or something with the emergency flashers turned on to make the bonne look like it just landed from space or something. I don't know maybe I'm just a nerd. I mainly posted to see what people thought of the idea.

You make a lot of emergency stops in parking lots?

The lights on aircraft do this because of how bright and hot the filament burns. Not sure how you'd pull it off.

Which bulb do you want to do this to? Youll need a resistor to trick the lamp monitor. For a 194 bulb youde need a 40-50 ohm 6+ watt resistor and for the 1157 bulbs youll need a 25 ohm 10 watt resistor for the low filament and a 40+ watt, 6-8 ohm resistor for the bright filament.
Now for the blinking effect. You can do this with capacitors, they deliver a surge of power and then slowly dim. That should give you the flashing effect, but keep in mind that the larger the power draw (brighter the bulb filament) the larger capacitor youll need to give you the dimming effect. If you converted your lights over to LEDs you could use smaller capacitors to give the same effect because they draw much less power and will drain the capacitor at a slower rate.
Im my opinion, you wont notice much of a differance from a regular bulb, especially considering the amount of work it would take to make it work the way you want. Halogen bulbs take longer to turn completely off so maybe you could find some way to incorporate one of those instead.

Assuming aircraft lights are 12 volts... they would be very expensive, wont fit in your parking lights and/or melt them, and will be brighter than your headlights but who knows right, let us know if you can find something

Aircraft tend to run on at least 24 volts, not 12. That and the fact that make an obvious mod like that to something as vital, and visible, as turn signals would likely draw attention from those who you don't really want paYING ATTENTION TO YOU

Yes but consider this, the school busses in this county have these very bright strobes on top that are always on. Now if something 8 feet wide and 45 feet long needs that (yes I know there are children on board but still) kind of thing on top of it'* massive size and extremely noticable color then I would think that a MUCH smaller vehicle would actually benefit from turn signals that are a little more noticable.

Now to the voltage thing, if they need 24 volts to then they might could be made to work with 12. And I'd assume that would render them with a couple million less candle power than when they are easily seen from the ground at night 30,000 feet in the air.

Just my guess, correct me if im wrong.
