Default OK...it'* go time.

Well, I've been debating and talking about getting a new car for some time now. My Bonnie just turned 100k last week..and shes got some little annoying things going on..but no real problems at all. But Im already paying 250ish a month for her...and for 50-60 more, I can get a new car.

I've kicked around the idea of an Audi A6, Lincoln LS, Acura TL, and my favorite...the Bonneville GXP. I was nearly 100% convinced on the GXP when all of a sudden I realize that 05-06 Cadillac STS are going for the SAME PRICE on eBay and Cars.com. Interesting. So I realized for about 20-23k I can get an 05-06 STS...even with AWD and TONS more options than the GXP...not to mention a better platform (Sigma). I still like the GXPs looks..but coming from a purely logical standpoint - I can't see why I would spend 20k for a GXP when I can spend the same or a bit more for an STS. It simply makes no sense given the quality and technological improvements of the STS..not to mention RWD or AWD.

However...I can't get over my love of the Bonneville, particularly the GXP. Ahhhh. I'm going to be purchasing within the next 2-3 weeks, possibly sooner...so I need some help! What do you guys think? GXP or STS?

hmmmmm, tough choice for sure. I REALLY like the GXP, but I also REALLY like the STS... and it'* a Caddy

GXP is more aggressive, but doesn't have the finesse / wow factor of the STS.... Tough choice indeed

I am going to say STS on this one

Thanks for the comparison pictures...definitely helps. I will probably end up going STS...but its tough when you have such a connection to a particular brand and model.

I would take a good LONG test drive of each one, over the same roads if possible. Heck, even take a few out for drives, even if not interested in that particular one.

Whatever you go with, we will definatly, of course, need pics

I agree...STS w/ AWD sounds great. Ive just always wanted a GXP ever since they came out...and now this spoils my fun, lol. Altho Im sure I wont hate driving an STS.

I know the older Seville STS/SLS had sweeping gauges. Any clue if the 05+ does? It has a HUD, I know that much. I really dont like the new STS cluster @ all, or the interior for that matter. But I just cant see the logic in spending 20 grand for a GXP when the STS is a considerably better vehicle.

If only the G8 came out in 05, it would be around 18-20k right now too!! That would have made the decision MUCH easier!

Sorry guys, gonna have to go with the STS. The fact is, the STS will get you better mileage, it'* more modern and it'* much quicker You can get all the options on the STS as you can with the GXP... Heads Up display, Bose 14-speaker surround sound with tweeters in the seat, leather (of course), heated seats (front and rear) and navigation (which wasn't even offered in the GXP). Also, it'* the only GM product to date that has Bluetooth available ...

just a quick word, u can pick up a used sts pretty cheap, the resale value isn't that great on those cars, eg. STS-V goes around 80-100k, guy picked up a demo with 17,000KM for just over 50k. plus the new northstar supercharged is outta this world.
