Default I've got a decision to make...

I drove the SSEi to the local parts store a few days ago, just to let it stay loose On the way back, I took a right-hand turn and all the sudden....engine cuts off, like the fuel pump just died. It starts back up, so I start heading back for home. Take another right-hander...same thing. By now, I've concluded it'* the tank and the baffling issue has finally cropped up. Seems I can't win for losing with this car

So now, I gotta decide exactly where to cut my losses. Selling it outright I think is out of the question. Not only would I not get my money back out of it (except maybe the initial 500 buck purchase price), someone could easily blow up the motor if they didn't keep watch on it. This isn't saying I don't trust the work done on it. It'* a sturdy motor and will last a good long time, IF someone kept a constant vigil with the scantool on it and followed a more stringent maintainance schedule on it. Most people, however, won't.

I can't even begin to list the amount spent on new parts since I bought it. It'* almost a new car underneath! But there are still other things it needs. It needs new tires, a full alignment, and now...a new tank. Which doesn't sound like much, but it'* the cost of everything that is killing me.

I dunno...I love having three cars. It means there is a spare in case one car fails. But there is no point in having a backup car if it can't be driven, is there?

Help me out here folks. My "common sense" side says to off it, or part it out. The side of me that usually gets me into trouble says to keep it though.

Around here, they puncture the tanks. So no dice on getting used.

Just to be sure it is not something simple, insure your cables are tight and biting good into the battery posts, and there is no corrosion on the cables. We've had several Bonnes on the club (including mine) experience "dying" while turning because of a loose or corroded cable. If that doesn't work, then at least you have eliminated that possibility.

Yup. Car goes on lift, tank gets punctured to drain the gas. Trans pans get punctred too, then plugged.

They do the tanks up here, not sure about the trans. Maybe its a florida law. I guess it helps prevents fires/explosions.

Neither one of those. To comply with state EPA guidelines. This is true at least with the LKQs I visit (and I used to work at the Daytona yard). In addition, all cats have to be cut out (if they are accessable), all fluids drained, batteries removed, and a/c systems discahrged.

I am hoping it is the battery cables. I made some really nice ones while the motor was getting redone last year. But it turns out they didn't last too long as all the cables are not fitting well into the terminal heads. So that would solve one problem.

Only about a dozen more to go.
