Default Series II engine cover

I don't know what the difference is on why some 3800 series II have a dark grey engine cover, and why some have a black one. anybody know? With that, lets have a poll, who has a grey one, who has a black one? Mine is grey, and I'm going to buy a black one because I like the black a lot better. the part numbers are 24507933 for the black and 24507931 for the grey.

Even the L27 cover varied in color, as well as the Series 1 L67. 2 different shades of gray for the latter.

any ideas on why some 3800'* have one color and some have the other? I had always thought the L27 was grey until 1994 when they turned black. Probably wrong on that though.

The 93 was black. However, the Lesabre of the same year was light gray. My Mother owns one. I'm betting the different GM divisions used different colors to make them look different. That could explain yours.

personally i prefer the look of the Series 1 because it more reveals the supercharger!

And you can play around with the coverings, like adding mesh.
