Alright this is kind of a friend vs friend thing were very competive people when it comes to what we have.... He cant take it when people have better shit than him..... Were dumb 17 year old kids tho :D Every thing he has had was faster than mine......
My 1987 pontiac 6000-le 2.8 v-6 VS. His 1990 Buick Centry 3.3 v-6 (he wins) My 1988 olds cutlass ciera internation series 3.8l VS His Buick Centry 3.3 (tie yippie) My 1988 Olds Cutlass ciera " " VS His 1995 Dodge avenger es (he wins) So my question is how much more powerful is the 3.8l engines in the 1995 bonnevilles compared to the ones in my 1988 cutlass ciera.....Who would win the race? My cutlass had him off the line until i hit 2nd gear...... His 2.5L 24 valve v-6 VS my 3.8L v-6 12 valve |
Your L36 should take it no problem. Your torque count puts it over the top. That is why so many ppl like these cars. True sleepers.
However, I have to put on my admin hat for a second to state that we have a very strict policy against posting street racing stories. As a new member I'm sure you aren't aware, so I will make it clear now. For a story worth posting about your cars performance vs your friends Avenger...take it to the track and do it up there  |

 Your naturally aspirated L36 is the production code for the engine under your hood.
3800 V6 (1995+ is called L36) And a sleeper car is a nickname for something that doesn't look fast but actually has unexpected power. Whereas rice tries to look fast but is not. |
Ok cool 1 more question (sorry new driver only 17 lots to learn) what matters more tourque or horesepower in a race i always thought its who has the most horsepower and the tourque was just a towing kinda thing?
|
Torque to me has always been that "throw you back into your seats" power. Its also the ability to pull your own car, essentially your engine is towing your car behind it. Your transmission does an excellent job of getting that power down to the wheels. You can brag about 205HP and 240ft-lbs of torque in your new 95.
|
Yea, try flooring a bonne on a open road somewhere. From 0-10ish mph it will take off at a decent pace, but soon you will feel a kick when the torque comes into play with the transmission, then it really takes off.
|
Twister, you need intake and exhaust  I get HARD pull off the line, up to about 35, but that's ok, I have another gear coming
|
Yea, it used to until I put my wheels on there. Added around 22lbs per tire just for the wheel, then I went up from 15 to 17 size, and sure enough it did get a little sluggish. Exhaust is on the way though.

Wow. that is alot of weight... What's the weight of the stock rims? I've been eyeing some Enkei RS-5's at only 21.6 lbs...
