What is this thing? Need Help IDing Throttle Body (Pics)
I've been looking for a good quality S2 L67 TB to replace mine that has a stripped bolt and so far all i've found were really dirty TB'* with the brackets bent and springs not attached and other poor quality parts. So i see this one on ebay and it was advertised as a S2 L67 97-?? Throttle body, brand new supposably off a crate engine. Well i get back from my 5 days in Key West and sure enough it arrived. Brand new as described and as clean as can be. It'* almost perfect even. Few Problems though, wrong size MAF sensor hole, and a mysterious second vacuum hookup. Is this one of those pre 98 throttle bodies of for a different engine all together?

That is a 1996 TB... The 2nd port is for the 4T60-E Vac Modulator...
This TB also has the MAF Post... Where the newer ones do not..

According to the seller he will refund my money if i can "prove" it'* a 96. He claims it'* the same one that is on his 97 GTP and i really don't need this expensive of a paperweight sitting around. How can i "prove" this is a 96? Is it even possible that his 97 GTP runs the same one?

The 1997 GTP has 1 Vac Port as the 4T65-E Trans he has was not Vac Modulated..
If you are intending to use this on your 2002, you won't be able to use your 2002 MAF... As your car has a Postless MAF set up.... That TB has a POST down the middle...
Here is the list
Year Make Model Engine
1997 BUICK PARK AVENUE ULTRA V6 3.8L 231cid GAS FI * Engine VIN = 1
1997 BUICK RIVIERA V6 3.8L 231cid GAS FI * Engine VIN = 1
1997 OLDSMOBILE LSS V6 3.8L 231cid GAS FI * Engine VIN = 1
1997 PONTIAC BONNEVILLE SSE V6 3.8L 231cid GAS FI * Engine VIN = 1
1996 BUICK PARK AVENUE ULTRA V6 3.8L 231cid GAS FI * Engine VIN = 1
1996 BUICK RIVIERA V6 3.8L 231cid GAS FI * Engine VIN = 1
1996 OLDSMOBILE LSS V6 3.8L 231cid GAS FI * Engine VIN = 1
1996 PONTIAC BONNEVILLE SSE V6 3.8L 231cid GAS FI * Engine VIN = 1
I guarantee that in 97 the Lower port was not tapped in the TB... It was left undrilled and blank...
This TB was not used on a 1997 anything as it has the 2nd port for the 4T60-E... For all of the SC cars GM produced, that SC TB was last used in 1996 with double Vac ports

Is there a date code in the numbers stamped on the throttle body?
The numbers on my 96 L36 throttle body are-
RHA65 4 6726
245072 31
Bold digits are stamped not part of the casting.
