New to me 1997 sse
Hi all,
I am new to this forum.
I just put a deposit on a 97 sse. The car has 40k miles on it and originally come from Florida. It was owned by an elderly couple who passed away and was suppose to go to the grandson....which he doesnt want. So his father is selling it. the asking price was $4500 and he took $4000.
The car looks like it just come off the show room floor and i had intended to give it to my daughter for her graduation present.
I plan i going through the entire car and was wondering about any problem areas of this year vehicle that should be addressed. I have read about intake manifolds....but dont know if it pertains to this year.
Thanks,
David

Check the coolant level, is this the supercharged version or the NA? The NA version has problems with the EGR stove pipe cracking and leaking coolant in to the intake right behind the throttle body. But with so low miles it may be in good shape.

It is a NA version.
Coolant level is fine.
I guess what i really want to know does it make sense to replace the intake manifold now. I would think that it would have a better design now?
I get most of my parts at napa.....do you know if what they have would be an up dated design?

The best upper intake manifold is the aluminum version. If you remove the throttle body you can see if the stove pipe is damaged. If not, it will be good for now.
