Default Thread Hijacking

There has been a recent rash of off-topic 'thread hijacking' that is becoming frustrating to some members. Imagine posting a topic, and having only 2 replies that are completely off-topic, for the sole purpose of post counts, or having the entire topic changed by the end of the first page, with the next two pages having nothing to do with the original topic......then having to re-post.

This is a 'social' site, but we do need to make a better effort to stick with the posted topics.

Any obvious cases of this will be deleted or split and moved to the lounge.

Thank you for you cooperation.

Bump. This is still a problem. The staff have been deleting 'hijack' and off-topic or no-topic posts in threads. Let'* have a little compassion for the people that start the threads, and try to keep them on topic.

Bump again. This is really getting out of hand. This is the call for all staff to crack down. Keep the banter in the lounge. Friendly conversation is one thing, but this is getting very extreme in some instances.

Still getting worse guys. Check out page 2 of this thread:

http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...er=asc&start=0

And another:
http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ic.php?t=11045

And one of the worst:
http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ic.php?t=10978
But I've seen several that go on and on before the orginal poster can get it back on topic.

Some of you have started noticing that some posts are being deleted. The staff is now deleting off-topic or hijacking posts. This IS a social site, but the abuse is getting extreme. Let'* use the lounge for what it was intended, and keep the other forums on-topic please.

To clarify (and keep my PM box from being flooded):

We're not looking for strict adherence or rigidness here. I'm guilty of this on a small scale myself. Who isn't? A chuckle or a jab every now and then (like the response of laughter when I was quoted as saying "I did it both ways" or something like that) is fine. We don't want an 'ice house' here.

What we're trying to stop is 3 or 4 posts in a row of this. If a topic is changed, it will be split into a new topic if it has good information in it. If it'* 'social' content, but only one or two posts, it'll probably stay. When we hit 3 or 4 or more in a row, the original author gets frustrated. That'* what gets deleted.

Right now, we're at a rate of 5-10 posts a day being deleted for this. Let'* not push the limits, and have some respect for the post authors and TRY to stay on topic. That'* what we're asking here.
