In light of the recent issue with CC, I was thinking it might be a good idea to have pre-defined punishments for various offenses. The main offense that I think this should be done for is mouthing off to administrators, which the admins have stated is an issue.

What I would propose is something along the following:

1st statement that is considered mouthing off gets a warning and the standard "If you have an issue, PM us" comment.

If it continues for a second, then a ban of two days would be imposed (length can be adjusted, but I think this is fair)

If after that time, and within X days/months the person again mouths off, then they would get a week ban (again, exact time frame TBD)

Finally, if after that they continue, then there should be a permenant ban.

Other things here could also have punishments imposed on them, such as attacking another member publicly could warrant a day or two ban. This could also include egging on another member when both parties have been asked to steer clear of eachother previously.

I just think this would be helpful so that people knew up front what the consequences of their actions would be.

I would be willing to work with the admins to come up with a good, fair system if they would like. I think that they do a great job currently, there are just some grey areas that I would like to help clear up to help make the forum better.

Geoff, while I admire your loyalty to your friend, your constant badgering here and in the lounge, as well as PM'* is really annoying.

Rob'* punishment fit the 'crime'. Read all about it in NOTICE. It'* clearly stated.

No change in current forum disciplinary policy will be happening. Our current system has worked for over 5 years, and has created what the majority of members here consider to be the best run Forum on the internet.

That alone is an indication that we're doing it right.
You have no clue how disciplinary action is doled out here other than the story you're getting from a banned member. Ample 'chances' are always given. CLEAR warnings were given in this case too, and ALL PM'* between he and I are posted for the other 2 Admins and all the Moderators, not to mention the site owner.

Drop this issue. You're only making it worse for him, yourself, and the entire Staff. The drama can go out the door with CC. If he decides he wants to discuss the issue with me, he can contact me. If he doesn't know how to, that'* part of the inconvenience of banning, isn't it? I've never seen a member that wished to return that didn't find a way to contact an Admin. Until now.
