Some sort of PIF "registry"?

I think it would be nice to have either a post, or just some sort of list or something, where members that would like to be notified when a PIF is occuring to add their screen names too.

I was pretty much just picking screen name's with some educated randomness. The names I chose were people who had posted in the PIF section, all the way back to Chad. But aside from that it was just entirely random, and granted, it worked out good, but it seems like every time there are people that say "I didn't even hear about this, and I would've donated".

Also, I don't know if its possible, but some sort of mass-PMing system would've been absolutely amazing. I popped off 100 PMs that first night, and it was very time consuming to enter the usernames in one-by-one, plus paste the message in there each time, plus type a subject each time...it wouldve been nice to be able to only do the subject and message once, then just type in the usernames, especially without having to reload the screen each time by going back to inbox, then starting a new message.

I do realize there are new members joining all the time that would love to participate, that might not immediately get added to the "list", but it would be nice to have a set of names to contact that would likely get results, instead of randomly PMing people.

I can't believe you went through all of that.
Yes, I definitely agree that some type of system like this would be ideal.

I was by no means the only one, I know for a fact that staff members and some other veterans took on the project as well. But Im sure they can attest to the fact it can be a pain to go on a PMing rampage, not too mention not knowing if theyre going to the right folks.

I am sure it was a pain, and i know you weren't the only one. I guess it really didn't sink in til I saw it in typing. ;)

I dont think we need a registry.

Are we to the point that PIF's are being taken for granted? While they are nice and it really shows how close this forum is, if taken for granted, this entire forum could turn into a huge soap opera.

No offense to anyone that has recevied a PIF, you are all deserving.

Was starting to get a little offended there. ;) j/k

You do have a good point though.

Lil'Hoov, I appreciate well what you're saying, as I had the honor of doing the same thing a few times. I did find ways to speed up the process a bit, using more than one open window, and it is a bit tedious, but I'd like to think that that is sort of the point to it, in a way.

I also am a little concerned that we might collectively suffer a little PIF burnout if we take it for granted. It's uniqueness lies somewhat in it's unpredictability and selectiveness, along with the obvious effort it takes to pull it off while keeping the PIFee clueless.

tallbump 10-17-2007 11:45 AM

Not sure about the rest of the PIFee's but I was certainly clueless.

I guess this is an interesting predicament.
It makes sense to streamline the process, but at the same time it also takes away a small part of the specialness.
Maybe if we look at the bigger picture, and not just in a PIF scenario.
I think we can all agree that some sort of mass PMing feature would be beneficial, for what ever the reason might be.
Like being able to input many different email addresses in one email.
Not sure if and how that could be done, but it is a thought
