Default Parts database

It would be nice if there was a part data base with part numbers and a search ability. There are books out there with the info so why cann't we get it on the site? I think it would be a great referance for members.

You would need a seperate site for that due to extreme amount of info. Trust me....I work for GM....

How much web space are we talking? Could we set it up with a link from this site?

Somebody was talking about something like this not too long ago, and looking into server space. Don't remember who.

There would be alot of data entry involved. We need to find space first, and then find someone willing to tackle this.

I've got alot of time on my hands, you have the info Will. I think the issue is server space. I think it would be a great help for members and would be willing to donate my time to do this but then I wouldn't know where to start as far as the programing goes. I'd be down for the data entry though. Let me know how I can help get this done.

What Will doesn't have I know I've got either on my own Hard Drive or I've got access to through GM'* Database.

Server space has to come first, then someone good with Java. We need a database with a Java input to FTP info to it. Then we can split the load between several people.

How much room total would we need? I may be able to help with it if I know what I'm looking at.
