Moving threads
I would like to request the Admins/Mods list a reason why they are moving thread. (a PM will do) Personally, I really try to be careful where I post a comment or question, but I've noticed a lot of moved threads for no obvious reason. This is confusing for the poster who gets notified they have a reply and happens to notice it's in a different place.
I recently posted about a interesting Olds Cutlass for sale that was moved (for no apparent reason) from the For Sale forum to the Lounge. I'm not mad over this, but it's an example of I have no idea who moved it and what forum rule they are inforcing. If the reason is "because it's not a Bonneville", fine, but I decided to use the For Sale section because there was a Grand National and an Olds LSS for sale that didn't get moved or locked. I'm all for enforcing the rules and trying to make it less of a burden on the Admins and Mods, but keep it fair and give is a reason for your action. |
Topics get moved because they're in the wrong section. Most commonly are mechanical issues posted in General Chat, or Performance questions in the Yearly mechanical sections.
I'd venture a guess that your topic got moved because: 1. You're not selling the car to begin with. 2. It's not a 3800. 3. It's not an H body. If we allow everyone on this Forum to post stuff they see for sale somewhere, the legitimate Sale Ads people post for superchargers, cars, and rims will be bumped so far down the list that the For Sale section would quickly become ineffective. There are far too many topics moved lately to justify a PM each and every time. Typically with new members, a shadow topic is left so they can find their way, and a note is placed in the reply which explains the move. With veterans of the Forum, you will typically not see this. When you realize your topic is gone, you have a good idea to go looking for it, and how to do it quickly. If your topic gets moved, ask yourself 'Was it in the right section? Does it fit where it is now as opposed to where I posted it? Does it match the Forum description where I posted it?' and if you're still unsure, PM a Moderator or Admin. |

The official rules or guidelines to follow can be found below the title of each forum.

I agree, a sticky would give people a direction to "get it right the first time" and it would allow the Admins and Mods to clearly list the things that piss them off the most. Just a suggestion.
Anyway, thanks for the responses on this. I know it can be a touchy subject. |
Personally... because stickies stay stuck for so long.. Most tend not to see them as we are used to scrolling down past them to the new topics.
