This might be a stupid suggestion but has anyone ever thought of having an instant messenger for this site outside of the chatroom? I think it would be alot easier to have a conversation with someone rather than PMing back and forth. Because if you want to IM someone they have to also be in the chat room, and alot of times it doesnt work out that way.

Server space and bandwidth would be an issue.

In addition to that, it defeats the idea of a FORUM where people discuss issues publicly for others to benefit from it and be able to search for their answers. This type of luxury ulitmately tempts people to seek help in a non-public manner, which we strongly discourage.

Much the same as the way people use PM'* for the same purpose, and why the Staff and Gearheads are instructed not to answer technical questions via PM'*.

Yeah, I understand that. Just thought it would be nice for 2 people that want to shoot the sh** without going back and forth in PM'*. Thanks anyway though

Just have a group on your AIM list of Bonne buddys. A year or two ago we had a chat going nightly thru AOL.

Use the BC chatroom, and PM the person you want to talk to.
