I find this funny because there is a maintence schedule in the back of your owners manual.

But the owner's manual doesn't tell you HOW to do those things. That's what we're talking about here.

wow. i hadnt thought such quick movement.

things i had in mind:

engine oil change
brake change
tire rotation and balance
transmission fluid flush/fill
swap plugs/wires

engine oil change
Good one. With pics of 3 or 4 different types of filter wrenches, and links to the oil filter reviews.

brake change
Another good one. Who's next to do front rotors? Rears? Rears are alot harder for the first-timer though, at least on the 87-99's.

tire rotation and balance
Good one. And the symptoms that might cause you to want to. Let's not leave out directional tread rotation instructions, and link again to the proper torque sequence for lugs.

Suggested jacking points as a seperate article? Where to put your jackstands? This and the brake article would benefit from a seperate article on that, and maybe even include suggested ramps (SSEi's and later SLE's can't use standard ramps).

transmission fluid flush/fill
Pan drop? Or flush. Pan drop and filter would be a good one. What drip pan to use, how to tighten the pan, how to get the filter neck sleeve out.....

swap plugs/wires
On the list and being written already.

Anyone that wants to take one of these on as a task is more than welcome to. The Gearheads can do some of them, but they're VERY busy in their own little world. If you write one, PM or email it to a GH, Moderator, or Admin, we'll post it in the GH section for review, upload the pics to the GH account, and kick it up to Techinfo with the author getting credit for the article.

Post here to claim your article.
