i remembered seeing this and was thinking that it would be a good tech info article.

I used that article as a guide when I replaced the cam position sensor magnet in my '91 Olds a few years back. Good info.

Actually, I think if you dig around, LeSabre.net has been using Padgett's link for almost as long as he's had that page up (about 5 years). I recall a couple of members from there coming here in the past with that problem.

Padgett is a sharp cookie. He's got a few neat little tricks that he's been a pioneer on in the past.

I have used this magnet replacement process on my 1990 Olds NinetyEight Brougham three years ago and the magnet is still holding on. I also just performed the same operation today on a 1989 Buick Park Avenue. The owner drove all the way home and no problem. Great way to quickly & affordably replace the magnet. The only difference is I did not want to wait the 15-24 hrs cure time for J-B Weld. I used QuikSteel which cures in 1 hr. I have since found out that there is also J-B Stik, which cures in under an hour too. It is a putty and catalyst that you knead together to mix the catalyst in. Very easy and quick. Hardens in 5 minutes, full cure in an hour. You can actually start the engine in one hour and it holds fine. Total repair time was about 1.5 hours + 1 hr cure time = 2.5 hrs from start of repair to start up the engine and drive. Huge difference: no more hesitating, stalling or rough idle. It idles smoothly, accelerates with instant response and the Check Engine light did not reappear after I cleared the computer codes.

Really? In the seven posts above my first post no one is suggesting changes to the forum, in fact the first post has a link to a procedure. Also, the specific discussion boundaries is not indicated at the top of the page. Sorry just the same. So Administrator, where should I have posted this, like what section? Thanks.
