"Announcements" section... any comments anyone?
I think that it might not be a bad idea ( if possible ) to add another section under that section for people that are just browsing around as guests or people that have been "carded".
Maybe include some history on how the Bonneville Club came about, and some more info about our site and the cars we help on here. make it admin, mod, and gearhead post only to keep all the other stuff out of it.
I think that may make some new people feel alittle more comfortable with the site and get them to join. I am sure that many people that get carded actually check out the site, but don't really go anywhere from there.
A title like "Recieve a BonnevilleClub card, read here" ( just something to that effect )
I know that there is this welcome section http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...pic.php?t=4756, but it was posted in May of 2003 ( maybe time for an update? ), and is in the Introductions for new members section. I believe that many of the people that get carded or just happen upon this site may not check that area out if they are unsure about joining up, and thererore don't see any welcome and have no clue as to what we are really about.
What do you guys think?

We had a history of the Forum up for some time, and it had very few views. We also had brief Bio'* of the Staff members.
I hesitate to add any more length to the forum. In fact, it was recently trimmed a bit.
In addition, we have maybe one or two members TOTAL that came about from being carded.
I don't see a section like that doing much other than taking up space.
Perhaps a Techinfo article on BC, but then again, that'* already covered pretty well in MEDIA.

Further info:
I saw this topic when it was posted. We usually wait until there'* a few replies to see how other people feel about it before replying.
About half the changes to the forum over the last 5 years have been due to suggestions of one form or another.

Well, I guess to be a little more clear, I don't know about 100% what is being suggested, but perhaps making the welcoming sections of the site a little more visible, perhaps?
I mean, honestly the only thing that really stands out is the "Intro for New Members" section, and that only really seems to make me think two things...
A.) I have to be a member to post there
and
B.) If I'm not yet courageous enough to post on the actual forums it would keep me from posting there anyways since it appears to be a place to say hi.
Maybe it'* just me, but I feel that even one small html page that listed a small history of the site, but placed in a very "up-front" location, such as perhaps in the 'Announcements' section as mentioned above, label it something like "About the BC" or "Who/What We Are", and then throw something in like big_news_1'* Article in the media section (which is very small and hard to see up at the top left of the page IMHO) then you've got a good start, and you really didn't have to hardly "add" anything.
To be frank, I think if you renamed the Media section "About BC" or "In the news" it would sound better, after all, when I hear "media" I think pictures and videos.
Just my .02

As far as my idea, it is just basically I think that we might actually get more people that are carded to join if they had something that would stick out to them and make them want to read it. I think something like that could make them feel more relaxed about joining up. I am sure that many realize that we probably have quite a few people that browse, but are not sure about joining, because they don't do much online, or are unsure of how the whole forum / online club thing works... ( I was one of them )
