Coupler change did not fix the noise
I just chnaged out my coupler because there was a noise that sounded like the coupler was bad. The noise was a rattling / growling noise, that went away when I took of the SC belt.
After the coupler change, the noise got much better, but it did not go away. I just drove a 250 mile trip and the noise is loud again. One confusing thing is that it gets worse when i'm in neutral and almost goes away when I shift into gear.
Could this be a bearing?

Nevermind. I obviously replied to the wrong topic. Which is exactly why we shouldn't have two topics running on the same issue.
I'll rephrase my reply above to state that he SHOULD have done the TB gasket when he did the other work.

I'll give you the should as a could have. 01 doesn't require the SC to come off or coolant be removed to change a coupler.
We probably didn't suggest the TB at the same time as part of the fix.

Sorry I started a new post on this, but I thought this would be considered a different topic than the leak.
I tried to check the pulleys, but I can't really tell if that is the cause of the noise or not. I just used a long screw driver as a sound scope. Do you have a better way to check the pulleys?
One other characteristic of the noise is that it does not happen untill after the car has been running for a while.
