My 92 SSEi'* supercharger is leaking out of the snout by the pulley. I don't seem to have a rattle or anything severe like some do... I can still build boost just fine, etc. My plan is to just replace the seal on the front I suppose, keep it simple if possible, right? I believe this is a CR seal, p/n 7965 (20mm shaft, 47 mm OD, 7 mm width)?????? Are there any other seals that would be acceptable? I see that CR offers many different sealing arrangements in this size, etc. Anyone have a simple little guide to this replacement?

I went through this exact issue on a 92 SSEi that I used to own. It, too, was leaking fluid at the shaft.

I ended up removing the nose drive from the SC assembly...and then began the research. I learned that the seal had to be pressed in with an arbor press. I had it done at a local machine shop for $10. I can't remember the seal part number (it'* at home in a folder), but I bought it from a local AC Delco supplier. It only cost a few bucks and was a National seal.

well the press on that seal shouldn't be more than a few thousandths... I do have access to a few presses if need be though. You just removed the "nose drive" and put it back on... i'm assuming this leaves most of the supercharger on the motor? You didn't replace the bearings either?

I didn't replace the bearings. Didn't need to...the car only had 66,000 miles. I did change the coupler, however.

To get the nose drive off the M62, you have to unbolt the entire supercharger from the LIM. Since you're going in that far, and with the mileage you have, you should also consider changing your LIM gaskets. I changed mine at 66K and they were already deformed.

If you go that far, you should also replace the needle bearings in the SC and the 2 bearings in the nosedrive itself. HOWEVER, you can replace the seal on the car by simply removing the pulley. It'* not easy, but it has been done a couple times here.

according to your sig your car has 250,000 miles so I'd check it for either slack in the supercharger or if you can move it left or right and top and down at all, it should be very tight and very little slack.

The car has 249,000 miles as of Monday, not to 250k yet Everything seems pretty good on it! I just have to keep filling it with oil often and it is just leaking out onto my motor, etc. I think I'm going to try the seal on the car, if someone can verify the CR seal P/N.

rollingperformance.com can get the seal for you at what seems to be a reasonable price. I don't know the part number.

I've replaced my seal. What I did was puncture the seal with a small slotted screwdriver. You have to be very careful with that step. Do it as close to the outer edge or race as possible and as shallow as possible to avoid nicking the balls in the bearing. Then use the screwdriver to pry the seal out. I put the new seal in with a little oil on the outer and inner edges and tapped it in with a mallet and a large socket.

This was my plan for replacement... I can order a seal, it'* not a problem, just looking for a p/n, also if anyone has the bearing p/n in case i decide to replace them, and still looking for a lil direction on replacement of everything else in case.
