Default What inhibits M62 nose cone removal?

What makes it so difficult to remove the nose cone on the blower while it'* still in the car on M62 motors? What'* in the way? It looks to me like the tensioner blocks some of the nose drive'* bolts, but what'* the whole problem?

I've already recieved my new coupler and waiting on the gaskets. just wanted to know what was up with the M62. I wish it was as easy as the M90'* to change the coupler...

There are just a lot of little things that seem to be just in the way of pulling it off. Brackets for everything end up getting in the way one way or another.

TRUST ME ON THIS> Pull the whole SC off!!!

I tried helping someone once who wanted to pull just the cone off.... it took them 3x as long to complete it than if they just pulled the SC in the first place (which is what they had to do in the end). With the SC off everything gets a ton easier.

that'* how i did it too, I didn't even bother trying to pull the nose off, I just pulled the entire */c and then separated the two. It really doesn't take that long or require a whole lotta brains.. Just a ratchet and a few sockets and screwdrivers.

To answer your question, DJ SHO, there are two or three bolts at the bottom of the nose cone joint which cannot be removed without taking the alternator bracket assembly off. It is nearly impossible to do the nose cone on the M62 while it is on the car.

Listen to the advice. I've done 2 of these. Pull the whole blower. You can do it in 1/4 of the time.

You're not allowed to be curious. You're only allowed to listen and obey.

We have learned from our miserable attempts to short-cut this.

Yes Master. I vow to remove thy entire supercharging apparatus for the replacement of thy nifty new little green plastic coupler thingy.

yep...it'* the alternator that'* in the way. Also, if you take it all off, you can clean it really well and get some better airflow. Make sure to remove the throttle body with it and clean that out too. You said you were waiting on gaskets...did you get supercharger oil too??
