My nose cone at the pulley has been leaking all winter too (luckily, the bearings are still good). I tried to replace the seal 3 times while the charger was on the car (I dread having to take off the whole */C just to do the seal), but I just can't get the seal to seat right - the inner rubber doesn't fit properly on the shaft and gets cut.

Any tricks of the trade? There is spring-type thing around the new seals; should I remove that and try to spread the seal somehow before driving it in with a large socket?

I definately could be wrong, but I thought seals only leak when there is a small amount of play in the bearings. You said your'* are good right? Why is the seal leaking? Now I'm really confused.

Where is the leak? At the seal between the gear housing and shaft, or between the gear housing and rotor case?

It seems to be between the gear housing and shaft. It'* the CR-7965 seal.

A little while ago, someone told me to remove the pulley, drill two machine screws into the old seal and pry it out. Then, drive the new seal in properly with a large socket. Conceptually, it makes a lot of sense, but I just can't seem to do it right - I keep ripping the middle part of the seal when it goes over the little bump in the shaft.

OK, hate to butt in but there'* a BIG PROBLEM! I got home from hunting today and i had a voicemail on my cell. The place where i took my car (Not a dealer) in is telling me that the seal for the supercharger is "non-serviceable" and the part is not even available! WTF! I am pissed to no end because he told me that the car would be fixed by this weekend! What do I do? I know that there is a seal out there, so what the hell is their problem? I do know that they only use "genuine GM parts" but I would think that they would be able to fix it?! I'm going to bust out the car manuals for the bonnie and try and figgure this out!

They are either lying to you, or they're dead wrong, or both. They may be under contract by GM to NOT service it, and sell you a new nosedrive. Several here have done their own. Tackle it yourself, or find another shop. Or simply refer this shop here

Dealers will not repair the supercharger other than replacing the nosecone or the entire thing.

What do you mean?

Show them how it'* done. We have a few members who have done it. They're standard seals and bearings.
