Default M62 needs help.

Hey guys I just bought a 1992 buick park avenue. The supercharger was making noise and the owner sold it thinking that he had to do the whole supercharger. The supercharger pulley has play so I guess its a coupler. Anyway I wanted to ask if it would be wise to change the nose drive also?

Plus where can I get a rebuilt snout or send it put to get it rebuilt. I do not have the tools necessary to rebuild it myself. Anyway any help and or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Most would start with the coupler, then diagnose from there unless you are aiming to replace it and have the money to spend. (Money for other mods!!!)

ZZP may have all the items...I think they have snouts.

ZZP doesn't support the M62.

Try www.canadiansupercharger.com for a nosedrive. ZZP for the coupler. Only the coupler and the bearings in the nosedrive are common between the M62 and M90. Nothing else.

Might check your local dealer. Here it'* cheaper than online for the same part # of oil.

And at the dealer, you won't pay shipping.

You won't need more than one bottle, and if you do, it won't be much more. Get 2 in case of spills or oopsies. Nice to have a little around if you need it in a pinch.

www.rollingperformance also has the oil, coupler, and rebuild kits.

All items in the pic below, including the rear needle bearings, are shared between M62 & M90 superchargers.

Only oddball items I've run across are...
(1) Nissan Frontier M62s use a larger rear rotor brg
(2) Had a Saleen M90 in for rebuild and it carried a larger OD rear snout bearing. This was probably due to a spun bearing somewhere during its lifetime and the resultant overbore of the snout housing needed to fix/save the snout.

hope this helps clear things up,

'bird

We were talking about a NOSEDRIVE SWAP. Not rebuilding the nosedrive. If you read my post above, I stated that the bearings were common. The NOSEDRIVE is NOT. Texans. :P

Some people think they're experts.

Hey everyone, meet Texas Thunderbirds. They bailed me out on my SC rebuild when I had problems finding parts.

The supercharger pulley has play so I guess its a coupler
Which way is there play? If you grab the pulley and turn it like a dial? If there'* play that way then it'* definately the coupler. If it'* in and out play, then most likely it'* the bearings.

Its play when you turn it like a dial.

As for putting in the coupler is that a tough task. Or should I do it?
