Default Which plugs for dry nitrous on a Series I SC?

Stock plug is 41-601
Been told platinum is a big no-no (41-919 delco is 2 heat ranges colder, but platinum)

Any suggestions?

Only shooting a 50 shot, no more.

yeah I tried like 4-5 different plugs in a 2 month period before I settled on NGK'* TR6 plug and I'm still not certain I completely like them. Don't get me wrong they work great but I have a few worries about the electrode. All in all as of date those are what I'd suggest. BTW I have the same setup. Platinum is a no no and with that small a shot I would say so is going two ranges cooler. Each range cooler you go the quicker you will foul your plugs. Go one colder unless you break over the 75shot. BTW both Holley and Zex say that a dry shot into a forced induction setup will generally yield 10-15hp over whats rated. So a 50 shot will really be 60-65hp if tuned properly. Just something to keep in mind when it comes to timing and KR.

NGK V-Powers (copper) are my personal choice as well.

These are the two guys I'd ask. And I'll vouch for the NGK V-power, even though I'm not running Nitrous. I suggest you pick a plug from this advice, then pull them in 30 days for an inspection. Not all, just a couple, but make sure you check a rear and front plug. Big temp differences between these two (you know what I'm talking about if you've ever pulled the heads).

Stay as far away from platinum as you can with a SC, and even FARTHER if you're running nitrous. AND stay away from Bosch.

Get back to us with what you do, and what you find or learn.

NGK is good but still the plug with the best track record is the Denso plug.

Zex has an idiot-proof box to its name but really the best systems are NX (who guarantees there jets, unlike Zex) Next on the list is T&T. Venom is great but they do tend to cost more for what we need when pushing a 50 shot. I have been told by actual racers who have been installing ALL the products above that Zex runs under posted power more often than not same with Holly NOS. Obviously if you ask each company they will tell you how great there product is.How much experience do the forum people sharing this info have with NOS? let alone with other products? Nothing personal but I would call a few shops ask for there choice "not based on price" and you will find Zex is not mentioned half as often. Holly is almost non-existent. The fact is they make the same amount of money on the holly and Zex system as they do on a NX, T&T, or Venom systems.

I would suggest doing your homework and calling on all the nitrous specialty SHOPS you can and you will find the truth when it comes to plugs and systems.

Good luck and don’t take anyone’* word for it look around.

What is the plug number for the NGK V-Power? or is it a generic plug, and what should I gap it to, or does it even need re-gapping?

Well I never claimed to have the most knowledge but if you ask I'll provide what I know. I did try, as I said, 4 different plugs and heat ranges and settled on what I did. None of the buys were random. One was suggested by the Schucks performance department, one by a local company Performance Engine Development, one through suggestions and one on my own. Funny the one I picked on my own has worked the best so far. He is right though, you can call your local shop and hope they ever worked on a supercharged 3.8l with a dry shot of nitrous. If so they'll probably be able to tell you exactly what plug works best. If not they'll tell you what worked great on their supercharged chevy 350...or almost exactly what you already know. No platinum, Colder plug, high performance...Otherwise MY suggestion is to take the advice of people who have tried it on your exact setup, at least to guide you in the right direction. I have heard that Zex is overrated for what it delivers but thats all a matter of the jets. Couple hundred bucks cheaper and you gotta use a bigger jet...waaah

lol, DR Jay, it was not necessarily a dis on your suggestion but there are others who will tell anyone "how it is" and then we get this sheep mentality instead of what people like yourself have done. I love your attitude of stick to it and find what works best. I just don’t like to sell or suggest people "should" buy less than perfect. It is true a bigger Zex jet will work but jets from NX used with a Zex system would work and you would also save some money. The NX jets are guaranteed you cant beat that. I especially like the waaahhh comment. Lol

Really there is nothing wrong with looking around and challenging anything anyone says on this site. Talk to many shops this will get you closer to the truth.
