Decent arcticle on nitrous
I might be installing my kit in the next couple of months, so ive been trying to read up on this stuff as much as possible. So far this is one of the best ive come across, but i havent searched much. Can anyone else sugguest any good sites?

with the boost, not a whole lot. A n/a'd car would do much better, because we don't have a whole lotta compression. I am thinking a 50-75 shot is as far as i'd go, to do a 100 shot, i'd do a full on rebuild. Just don't use the n2o for highways.. save it for the track, and seldom use.

Exactly how does a high compression ratio affect how much nitrous you can use. Ive heard that you can and ive heard that you cant have a lot with a higher ratio

It all really depends. The higher compression heats it up more which may be putting you on the verge of detonation anyway and nitrous heats up the chamber putting you even closer. Detonate with a 100 shot of nitrous in the chamber and you might be in for a rude surprise.
Fuel delivery is the biggest problem and thats when you hear about melting pistons and frying valves. Even a short studder in the fuel system can spell disaster. If you're looking at nitrous do yourself a favor and budget in enough to get the injectors cleaned and a new fuel pump if you don't already have it. $300 now could save you $3000 later.
Before my rebuild I used my nitrous almost daily. In a few months I went through 5+ bottles. I was using a 55 shot but something to remember, I talked to Holley and Zex and both agreed that a dry kit in a supercharged application will add 10-15hp to the rated spray. So that was anywhere from 65-70hp shot. Oh and yeah I had 90-100k on the engine. When I pulled it apart I had no problems aparently related to using it. I didn't have my injectors cleaned till after that either. BUT, don't take this as a ticket to install nitrous without first building the fuel system, I may have been very lucky not to have fried the engine because when I got mine cleaned they ALL came back "very dirty."

well as with blowers and turbos, detonation can occur with a higher compression engine.. just with the extra air, and the n2o is the same way. Is it a dry or wet injection?

I have new flow matched injectors. Would their larger size complicate things? I also have a granatelli motorsports 255 lither/hour fuel pump still in the box in my closet. I have also heard of the problems that a wet kit can present as far as puddling is concerned, however i have read that in smaller motors, it has a shorter path to travel, therefore less time to puddle. I also plan on installing the nossle in my tb after my maf. Im going to get the af gauge, replace my O2 sensor, get a nitrous preasure gauge, and a fuel preasure gauge, along with the bottle warmer, purge kit, and possibly a controler. With all of that said, will i still be taking too much of a chance with this, or do i pretty much have myself covered?

if your puddling @ WOT, after comming out of the nozzle @ a high pressure mist... theres a BIG problem
as for using nitrous and not blowing motor... I'm gonna sound like broken record... but I always suggest a nitrous controller to ppl nitrous Express has a good one Palm programable out now... and jacobs has a dial set one out for quite a while
other then that... get a fuel pressure switch so that if the fuel pressure drops too far the nitrous system is turned off... rpm retard box when the nitrous is activated... and for the love of good ... get a KR meter and a a/f meter
atleast this way if you don't have the other safety stuff you can perhaps have that half a second before the motor goes supernova to lift the pedal
