Did you pull just the snout or the entire SC?

crunkfrunk Jun 19, 2010 12:41 AM

Just the snout, left the rest on the LIM

crunkfrunk Jun 20, 2010 11:09 PM

Just bought a rebuilt one to hopefully just end the issue, I don't think the little bit of SC oil that leaked onto things could have effected

crunkfrunk Jun 28, 2010 11:14 AM

Well I looked at things today and it was a massive vaccuum leak where a bolt was missing, just need to get a bolt to put in the spot I stole one from and we should be good

but...now the supercharger makes a howling noise that is pretty freakin loud, what now?

Danthurs Jun 28, 2010 08:41 PM

What do you mean by howling? Any chance you can get a video showing this?

crunkfrunk Jun 28, 2010 11:42 PM

I can take a video tommorow, it changes with RPMs and seems to get quieter around 3500 RPM when you really start to hear the whine (normal)

maybe the snout bearings? I should have a snout here in a few days to swap it out with

BillBoost37 Jun 29, 2010 06:30 AM

A coupler swap shouldn't have this type of an effect. It's very odd. Please take some pics etc while you have the vid camera.

Danthurs Jun 29, 2010 09:55 AM

A bad bearing can make a whine, a bad coupler will sound like the snout if full of rocks. Will know more once a video is posted.

BillBoost37 Jun 29, 2010 11:25 AM

That's what doesn't make sense. He says he changed the seal and coupler.

Danthurs Jun 29, 2010 12:15 PM

But not bearings. Also, if the seal was installed incorrectly it might have rolled over and is causing the whine.
