Default 2000 SSEi Supercharger belt/idler

Yesterday I noticed a slight squeal coming from near my alternator/supercharger. Today I noticed that the squeal went away. I decided to give it a look see and I noticed that my supercharger belt had come off completely. After further inspection I noticed that one of the pulleys/idler (forgive me I’m electrical not mechanical), the one closest to the coolant pump was gone. The bearing that was left also seemed to be “froze” as I was able to spin all other pulleys/idlers but not that one. Since I’m completely incompetent to basically anything under the hood, can someone chime in and give me the low down on what I need to do in order to get it fixed. I really don’t wanna take it to the dealership if I can help it.

Go to your local auto parts store and get another idler. Bolt it on. That simple.

I have a 2001 ssei. last month I had the exact same problem. Pontiac service parts do not list the "idler pulley separately. If you want the oem replacement you have to get the whole pulley bracket assembly for around $130. The service tech was able to cross-ref a Delco pulley that I got from the local parts store for under $30 and works fine.

Just goto the local AZ or PBs for the part.

Thats for if you decide to ever put a 3.4MPS on it.

Here'* a quick tip.

The fixed pulleys have bolts with regular thread. (Clockwise = tighten)
The tensioner pulleys have bolts with reverse thread (Clockwise = loosen)

The tensioner ones are the ones that are on spring loaded arms.
