WTF do I do now.


Basically I removed the pulley just fine, I suppose I put too many threads from the in the sc itself, when I went to install the hub I felt a pop and it stripped the threads out of the 8mm stud as well as the 5/8" piece.

I'm not too impressed with INTENSE'* pulley puller yet..I followed everything per directions, if the stud was longer I dont think I would have this problem.

Is my only option now to replace the whole snout??

I dont think I can drill it out safely.

I've tried vice grips but that stud is in there darn good.

You could drill a hole across the diameter, stick a small rod in there, and use that to get you some leverage on breaking the threads. Soak it in PB blaster overnight, and torch it for good measure.

Aside from that, I am at a loss.

will PB blaster penetrate thru the anti-seize?

Given enough heat, it should. Should soften the antiseize enough to allow you to turn the stud a little bit. The stud itself should be able to break what little antiseize is left.

You gotta torch handy?

I do have a torch yes. I'm going to bed right now (just got done replacing every gasket on the car) but when I get up I might give it a shot with the torch


how do I stop the SC shaft from spinning? I can get a good grib on the stud with vice grips but I cant do so on the shaft since it will scar it

Don't use a torch on that input shaft unless you have a new seal for the nosedrive already. If you don't, then get one, and replace it before you install the MPS hub.

You can remove the TB and insert a long 1" x 1" piece of WOOD into the inlet of the SC to jam the rotors from turning.

Ultimately, I'd take the nosedrive off the SC to do this, and possibly take it to a machine shop for removal.

Hans, mine broke off inside the shaft.
I tried everything to get it out. I ended up buying a replacement nose drive. :(

You could try grinding some flats on the screw and blocking the rotors like Bill suggested. Then use a wrench on the screw.
Forget trying to grind a slot and using a flat head screw driver. Just not enough torque and the screw will break. It is brittle hardened steel.

I used an old SC belt and my super vicegrips to grab the SC shaft...well thats not slipping but there is not enough material on the m8 stud for vice grips to hold it. I've snapped/bend 3 sets of vicegrips already. they just arnt strong enough to grab the small stud. I shaved down the stud with a dremel and made a square. still not enough sticking out.

I emailed INTENSE to see if they can cut me a deal on a stock nosedrive and i can send the old one back to them as a core for someone that wants a machined one or something.

Once again INTENSE will come thru with a rebuilt nose drive and give credit for the core return.....might as well order the machined snout version like I did. ................and cough ...couple of other goodies while you're at it... cough....
