Default Boost creep

Hi y'all,
In regards to my 1999 SSEi.
I have noticed that when in the higher rpms during full throttle runs that the boost guage dang near pegs, (goes through the red, and past 10 to approximately 11.5), but then it drops back down to 7-8 when it shifts. It really gets up there when especially in the higher rpms in 2nd gear. In 1st it will hit about 9 just before it shifts to 2nd (at which time it has really begun to smoke the tires at speed).
Is this normal, or should I hurry up and order the Taylor 8mm Spiro Pro'* (only has ACdelco 7mm wires now), and some NGK TR55'* or TR6'* to protect against KR?
Oh, and 35 mph burnout'* have been no problem on clean dry pavement. Only mods for performance being a gutted airbox, and a crankcase vent breather in place of the oil filler cap and neck).
Thanks in advance,
Martin

If that'* a stock pulley, your boost gauge is way off. You may also be getting into overboost protection by the PCM. Wires and plugs won't do anything to protect against KR or help boost. The breather is purely cosmetic, also. The PCV valve already does that for you.

With a stock pulley on that SC, you should be seeing 7-9psi on the gauge.
