Well I need to vent a bit

So long story short I purchased a rebuilt charger from Canadian Superchargers, everything was good until 1 month in, its starts leaking, so I call them up and the owner says ok and we'll send you another charger, So I get this one spend a couple of hours doing the install and I think that wasnt so bad, Anyways another 2 months pass and the damn new one is leaking again, So I call him up this week and they tell me to re tighten the nose so I comply and go out a tighten, the bolts did not even move, so I call him back and tell them they dont move, So I was told to go and get some rtv sealant and reseal the unit, Ok so I spent $1000 on a leaking supercharger thats stupidity. So I call them up and say hell with me resealing it send Ya the service isnt an issue just the quality is really making me mad, What should I do??

The other thought is...I don't have one and don't know the first thing about them...but when it comes to problem solving, sometime you have to look deeper than what you see on the surface....is the leaking sc the problem?... or could it be the result of another root problem?

Either way, you are out the $$ already....keep at it until you are satisfied with the results.

Well its directly leaking from the nose cone bolt area on top of the supercharger, I got the new one and wow is all I can say, its a rebuild from the same place but the case is peeling the supercharger coating. I guess Ill just paint it and hopefully it works this time

Brian at Canadian Supercharger is in the same league as Todd Allen and Scott Cook at INTENSE. If I didn't rebuild my own, I wouldn't buy from anyone else. He'* been serving the members of our Forum for 5 years without a single complaint.

You won't find a business owner with a higher degree of customer service and quality. But if you deal with them while angry, that'* going to spill over. If it'* leaking around the base of the nosedrive to the rotor plate, simply re-seal it. He'* right.

He REBUILDS old units. He has no way of knowing if some flaw or defect will cause issues later down the road.

Don't ever paint a supercharger unless it'* a coating known to be able to dissipate heat. And make sure it won't invalidate your warranty.

I suggest we turn this into a fixit topic instead of a rant, and solve your problem the next round. Let'* have some pics of the charger and the leak area.

I have been civil with him over the phone, he sent me another replacement, Im just hoping its not going to leak again. Im not here bashing him, its more Im frustrated with the past 2, hes honured the replacement warranty and thats for sure an A+ for Canadian superchargers, I guess I have just gotten 2 bad apples, but thats the way things go, Im sure he will solve this issue, and hopefully its the last.

My advice at this point (without further info and details from you) is to remove the SC and clean both surfaces very well. Use the red gasket maker instead of black RTV.

Torque in a staggered star pattern like you would your lugs, but stage-torque it. 10ft/lbs in a stagger, then 15, then 20. Torque spec is 20. Make sure you use a thin bead of gasket maker, and go around each bolt hole and each pin.


Your 'bead' should be no more than 1/8" in diameter, and a little closer to the outer edge than the inner.

No, that peeling won't spread if you lightly wire-brush off the corrosion and dab some clearcoat on the exposed areas witha q-tip.

The condition of the case isn't Brian'* fault. That he keep sending you leaking superchargers isn't good, but **** happens. Hopefully they can figure out what'* going wrong at their end.

I rebuild superchargers too, and (as I'm sure Brian does) I hate sending out units that don't look perfect, especially since everything inside is brand new. But it'* out of the rebuilders hands. We rebuild core units that are sent back to us by customers, and we have no control over what they look like. Also, customers (in my experience anyway) don't usually worry too much about packaging things carefully when they send their old unit back. They don't need it anymore, so they don't care.
