Well, what I really mean is why can't you pull the nosedrive off the Gen 3 M62 without removing the whole supercharger? Is there something internal that disallows this? I looked at pulling the whole supercharger and it'* pretty complex as you have to pull the fuel rails and disconnect a bajillion vacuum lines and such.... If anybody has paid a mechanic to do this, how much did they charge?

there is a bolt that goes thru Tensioner bracket into the Snout

And the tensioner bracket is in the way of pulling it off. You could remove the bracket and pull the nosedrive off, but I find it'* easier to pull the SC.

I almost had the tensioner bracket off--I had the alternator bolt out and the nut off that goes on the bolt that comes from the supercharger. That just left the tensioner bolt itself. Don't you have to take this stuff off to get the supercharger off anyway? So if you take off the tensioner you can pull the snout without damaging any seals or bearings?

In order to take bracket off you have to take off a lot of stuff including steering pump.
It'* not just two bolts/nuts near alternator.
I wish it was that easy when I was replacing bracket.
And I just replaced nosedrive too. lol
The irony is nosedrive broke one week after bracket was replaced so whole supercharger was taken off the engine

Yeah, you gotta get to a hidden bolt or two at the bottom of the bracket as well. There is a bracket hiding behind it that mounts to the tranny and engine block. The PS pump is kind of a pain in itself, since you have to work in a tight space through the PS pulley.

I've done it a few times now and it'* much easier to take the whole SC off.

And we've been saying "tensioner bracket". It'* really the accessory bracket that a couple tensioners mount to.

not to mention that you will get sc oil all over the engine. it is much easier and cleaner to take the sc off.

Trust a forum of 10,000 members when we tell you to just take off the SC. It'* far easier that way than removing the accessory bracket.

Well, I pulled the supercharger myself. I checked with a local mechanic and he wanted over $200!! Probably closer to $300, he said. Ouch. It'* a job, but got 'er done and back on. Every plastic vacuum line I touched broke... plastic hoods over the electrical connections broke.. all plastic is brittle under the hood and the rubber vacuum lines were rotten. So lots of repairs when putting it back on. The old coupler fell out when I removed the nose, so it was pretty worn. The whole thing went back together easier than it came off, probably because I was familiar with it by then. Car started right up and ran without rattling. Next time, if there is a next time, it will be easier.
Bottom line: thanks for the advice and the link to the website selling the coupler.
