Default Leak after rebuild

I rebuilt my nosedrive, and now I have a pretty good leak. In the last 2 or 3 weeks, I lost enough that it took a third of a bottle to bring the oil level back up to the threads. After peering between the snout and pulley, I see a piece of seal, looks pretty much like an o-ring, hanging out on its own. Obviously not doing its job, I would think. I looks like a piece of the center of the snout seal came out.

When i rebuilt the snout, it spun pretty freely till I put the seal in, then it felt pretty tight, but I could still rotate it by hand. I assumed that was normal for a new seal. Was I wrong? Did I manage to damage it during installation?

Replace it on the car this time, and pre-oil the shaft. It'* normal to leak a bit on an older charger with a groove worn in the shaft already. It'll leak until the seal 'seats' to the old wear marks.

Use the cheaper (softer) Viton, not Nitrile. Nitrile is too hard to be able to seat to a worn older input shaft.

Nitrile is the cheaper one... which I thought I used.

How do I get it off without removing the shaft?

Remove the pulley, remove the clip, DIG it out by punching a hole in it, then peeling it out. It'* been done (not by me).
