throttle body plate/ nitrous

Default throttle body plate/ nitrous

Quite awile ago I seen somewhere a plate that goes on before the throttle body that had twisting vanes in it to swirl the mix into the manifold. Any you gearheads heard of such an animal. Cant remember what it was called or where i saw but I thought it help mix the nitrous (wet) instalation i'm doing.

Total waste of money. it just slows air down and messes up the maf signal.

Yeah bout like the tornado air managment system. Total waste of money as previously mentioned.

works alright for carb vehicles because it can help mix the air and fuel, but I would pass.

Thanx for quick replies guys and back to drawing board ok ,....how far do you think i can safely boost unmodified with nitrous anybody familar with??and ya i'm nuts but doing it anyway. I figured to use 75 Hp first. Not going to drag race it, mostly for show and "little displays of power Remember I dont need more intake flow, I'm supplying boost and cylinder pressure artificialy and the more it'* mixes the better. But exhaust flow is a concern and I'd consider having exhaust side of heads reground if I knew the bigger STS exhaust valves would work. thanx John

Agreed, I figure a 75 horse kit is a good place to start. If I am thinking correctly you won't have to do any work to the pistons or anything for a small kit like that.

Are you going wet or dry??

Wet kit-75 and100 Hp and it can be uggraded to dry/fog/dual.......from Holley and specific for LD8 northstar (imagine that). And any help about placement ideas would be great...I'm 51 and havent had performance fever in 30 years.......ya know ...job, house ,family...Kid'* all grown, got to retire early, then my wife died and I ran into GXP at dealers recently greatly discounted. I thought I knew quite a bit about cars but I finding that 30 years went by and I dont know squat anymore. Things have changed so much. I assume there is no way to retard the timing as of yet? And pistons? No, dont want to start tearing into a motor w/ just under 1k miles.........

You should definitely get some colder plugs. Rockers & pems would help it flow better too.

Cool. The nitrous is for show and a little go I'm not going boost enuff to cosider engine mods right now, I'm wondering how colder plug will affect the engine seeing as how it will be "stock" 98% of the time.
The Northstar has no rockers it'* DOHC

Congrats, on the early retirement. I offer my condolences for your lost wife.

The best rule of thumb is to get it breathing better first, Inflow and outflow.
Ways to do this are CAI or FWI, for the inflow,
and a hi-flow cat and freer flowing muffler, for the outflow

Another thing that is highly recommended is a 180* stat. Depending on the application some even go to a 160*.

You will want to get the pcm reflashed also, it does things like retard the timing, changes the shift points, removes top speed and rev limiters, and also adjust when the fans come on. Just go to Intense-racing.com. They can help you with pretty much whatever you need.

And one other thing you have already found one of the best resources: our club.
We have several thousand members and everyone can help out some way or another.

Again my sympathy for your wife, I couldn't imagine losing mine.
