Default M62 */C coupler procedure?

I thought awhile back i saw the procedure of how to change the coupler without taking off the entire */C. The procedure i saw even had the pics. But i did a search today and can't find the procedure. The procedure on ZZPerfornance'* website doesn't look quite the same as my '94 SSEi setup.

Anyone have a link to the procedure i need? I think it'* probably somewhere on this site. Thanks!

Trust me when I say pull the whole SC. There is more to do to get just the nose drive off VS pulling the whole assembly. Plus, the only instructions I remember w/pics is for pulling the whole unit off. I tried to help someone do just the nose drive once and it proved to be twice as difficult and take 3x as long.

I think this is what you were looking for:

Ditto. Gordy is right, and we've proved this time and again. We've had more than one member waste 6 hours trying to do this, then ended up pulling the whole thing anyway.

I think doing just the nose cone is only possible on the M90. It is almost impossible to just the nose on the M62. I should know - I am one of the ones who spent 6 hours.

Default */C removal questions

Those pics are a great help. 3 questions:

1. Any differences at all between doing the job on a 1993 vs. 1994?
2. Did anyone write up a complete walkthrough, ie explaining HOW to take the fuel rail off and such? (I've heard you need to pull a chip to shut off the fuel pump to remove fuel from the lines?)
3. Part numbers which need replacing with */C reinstall?

Thanks. Removing the entier */C SOUNDS like alot more work, but i've already learned to trust those who have gone before me in this regard!

1) I believe that everything from 1992 - 1995 are almost identical. If there are any differences they will be so minor there shold be no issues.

2) Buy a service manual. They explain exactly how to do all the individual parts. They are around $15 at most any auto parts store.

3) I'm sure Willwren or someone else can get those for you. Otherwise I think there was a "shopping list" in that thread. Just take that info to your local GM dealer and they can look it all up for you.

and for removeing the SC, this was one of my first major undertakings on mine. I found it to be easier than expected (not to say it is an easy job). As long as you focus on small pieces, you probably won't have any real trouble doing this. If you do, we're here to help.

I just did a SC rebuild on a 94 SSEi about a month ago. It'* not too bad. Here'* a few tips. Have some masking tape to mark vacuum lines, bolts, and electrical connections so you know where everything goes. For the fuel line, I just pressed in the needle valve and let it shoot out. It'll drip a little when you take it off, but no biggee. That whole double nut procedure outlined...well, I never did that. I just took off the nut for the alternator to SC and was able to pick up and slide the whole unit out towards the driver side. Best of luck to you.
