Clearing corners. 97
Tools needed.
Phillips screwdriver, long standard screwdriver, Dremel with cutoff wheel, Silicone sealer, tape, file, and replacment bulbs. Either standard yellow, or yellow LEDs. Here's how they look starting out. https://www.gmforum.com/howto/tech-i...4/P5090001.JPG You will need to check this screw. If it's tight you will need to loosen it a little bit. https://www.gmforum.com/howto/tech-i...4/P5090003.JPG Then use a long standard screwdriver to gently push the locking tab back. You can then remove the corner. https://www.gmforum.com/howto/tech-i...4/P5090006.JPG Now give the bulb assembly a gentle twist and remove the bulb housing. https://www.gmforum.com/howto/tech-i...4/P5090007.JPG Now gently remove the rubber seal. You may need to gently pry it free. https://www.gmforum.com/howto/tech-i...4/P5090009.JPG Now use your dremel with a cutoff wheel to cut the corner open. Be sure to use safty glasses or better yet, a face shield. Hot plastic will be flying around. Remember, ALLWAY use your PPE. https://www.gmforum.com/howto/tech-i...4/P5090010.JPG Be sure to cut all the way around. You may nee to gently pry it free. https://www.gmforum.com/howto/tech-i...4/P5090011.JPG The yellow lense will just pop out, might need a little help if hot plastic melted over it. https://www.gmforum.com/howto/tech-i...4/P5090012.JPG Clean up the surface with a file. https://www.gmforum.com/howto/tech-i...4/P5090016.JPG Run a bead of silicon around the edge. https://www.gmforum.com/howto/tech-i...4/P5090013.JPG Then tape it tight to allow silicon to cure https://www.gmforum.com/howto/tech-i...4/P5090014.JPG Here they are all done, just need to be cleaned up. https://www.gmforum.com/howto/tech-i...4/P5090017.JPG And now installed back on the car. https://www.gmforum.com/howto/tech-i...4/P5090018.JPG https://www.gmforum.com/howto/tech-i...4/P5090019.JPG These are the LEDs that I used. https://www.gmforum.com/howto/tech-i...4/P5090015.JPG Easy project. Took about 1 hour to do. Dans scale of difficulty, I'll give it a 3. 1=easy, 10=hard Just be carefull with the dremel, it can grab and then jump damaging the lense, or worse yet, cut in to your hand. Leather Gloves are a good idea. |
