Hello All,

I have a 97 ssei with the ABS and traction lights on. It started intermittently 3 months or so ago (sometimes it would come on when the car started, sometimes not). After 4 weeks of that both lights remain on.

I got the code scanned and it'* C1243 Brake Pump Motor Valve Stalled. I checked the fuse on the firewall and it'* good. At this time I cannot locate the relay (Haynes manual says its under the firewall fuses). I have also removed and cleaned the EBTCM connector, but I haven't removed the EBTCM from the BPMV yet because I would like to make sure I have correct voltages before I go that far.

If anybody knows the procedure or can supply the pinout diagram for the EBTCM connector I would appreciate it. Also, can this be tested while disconnected with ignition on, motor off? I am also considering baring the large red wire on the pump motor and measuring there as well. The ground to the back of the motor is good.

DTC C1243 is pump motor stalled or turning slowly. Sounds like it could be mechanically bound up. I have the pin out for 00+ EBCM, I'm not sure it would be the same. A 96-99 GH will chime in shortly with an ABS shematic.

The actual failure is the pump motor VALVE. This is the valve that holds pressure and releases it when needed. The valve is a non-servicable part of the PMV.
