Default ELC

I have been having problems lately with my battery draining and my car stalling. After several tows, lots of money, and tons of frustration I got my car to someone who does electrical. I feel stupid because I drive past this place everyday. Anyway, he had a mutilmeter hooked up to the battery and it was putting out more than 15 milliamps. I don't know much about car but he told me this is extremly high. I was told it supposed to be less than 1milliamp. Anyway, he then showed me where the ELC was and as soon as he pulled it out the amps immediately started dropping and after maybe 30 seconds it stopped at .014. So he has conlcuded that it has something to do with the ELC, he says he just has to look through the manuals and see what is wired into it before he can start eliminating the problems. Hopefully this is it this time and I can drive my car again.

This post looks familiar... you've posted it before right?

I'm thinking I suggested ELC compressor to you before.

Interesting, as GM specs allow for a maximum of 25 ma. as being withing the normal range, and dropping to .014 ma. is virtually unheard of. However, it does sound as if he is on the right track, as the ELC should not be drawing much, if any current if the pump isn't running.
