Car alarm gone crazy!!!
My car alarm randomly starts going off, for no apparent reason. It usually happens at night, and its only happened in the winter, but this winter and last, the alarm just starts going off. The security icon on the dash is always illuminated, before it happens, but i dont know how to reset the system, or what causes the cars security system to engage? Any feedback is greatly appreciated by me and my neighbors...Blake

It sounds like one of the doors or the trunk latch is telling the Remote Accessory Control module that it is opened. This will cause the security light to stay on steady instead of blink after the system is armed and the door is closed. See if you can first disconnect the trunk forced entry input. It should be a light blue wire that goes to the trunk latch. Don't confuse it with the wires for the power trunk release. Hopefully your problem is there and you won't have to dig into the doors. Arm the system and check for normal operation (IE security light begins to blink after closing the door). If the problem is intermittent, you may want to leave disconnected for a day or two to monitor the operation.

Mine does the same thing. To bypass the problem of waking up at night (as well as all the neighbors calling), lock the car by using the key on the outside. This goes around the security system.
